Repetition & Rhythm

For this lecture lesson, we learned about repetition & rhythm in architecture. Repetition refers to repeating visual elements such as line, color, shape, texture or value in an image. This tends to unify the total effect of a work of art as well as create rhythm. Repetition can take the form of an exact duplication (pattern), a near duplication or duplication with variety.

Rhythm wise, rhythm is the repetition or alternation of elements, often with defined intervals between them. Rhythm can create a sense of movement in your photograph, as your eye will tend to follow the repeated elements throughout your composition.

For this assignment, we were told to make our own emotional space according to a pattern that I chose.

Emotional Space

Here is the pattern that I chose, we need to crop a part of the pattern and sketch it out.

Sketches & Plans

After choosing our pattern, we need to sketch out the patterns and plan our which pattern to put in our emotional space

Here is my sketches and plannings:

Final Outcome

Once everything is done, we need to decide what theme are we going to use for our emotional space. I decided to make a funky & color intensed based emotional space. After that, I started the making of my emotional space.

Here is the final outcome of my emotional space and how mine is compared to my classmates':

My funky-themed emotional space (left) compared to my classmate's depressed-themed emotional space (right).

Both of our (me and my classmate) emotional spaces are funky-themed.
